Wedding Etiquette

On your Wedding Day you obviously want it to go smoothly. For your assistance in achieving this we have compiled a brief list of formal arrangements for a traditional wedding.

The Line Up

This is the ideal opportunity for the bride, groom and their parents to welcome and meet the guests who are sharing their special day.

The Brides Mother
The Brides Father
The Bride
The Groom
The Grooms Mother
The Grooms Father

It is then traditional for the parents to be shown to the top table and the Master of Ceremonies then announces the bride and groom to their guests in their marital status.

The Top Table

Bridesmaid, Grooms Father, Brides Mother, Groom, Bride, Brides Father, Grooms Mother, Best Man

Speeches

Before the speeches commence your Master of Ceremonies will announce the cutting of the cake. The Bride and Groom will take their place next to the cake, whilst holding the knife together, the knife is then placed into the centre of the bottom tier. This completes the cutting of the cake, and the champagne glasses are then filled for the speeches.

Order of Speeches
Father:

The brides father proposes a toast to the Bride and Groom, and then makes his speech, which will consist of welcoming his new son in law to the family.

Bridegroom:

The bridegroom will reply to the speech on behalf of his wife and himself, he will then thank their guests for their attendance and gifts and also for those who helped make their day special. He will conclude his speech by proposing a toast to the Bridesmaids.

The Best Man:

The best man responds on behalf of the bridesmaids. His speech should be relaxed and amusing and not too ott.
